Honestly I wish I read his reviews before I hired Vernon Ellicott. When I had my consultation he was sloppy didn't want to fully hear me out cutting me off during my sentence. Saying "I understand" and he just refused to let me explain my situation which is odd looking bad since he would be representing me and should know important information pertaining to my case. I decided to look past it but that was already a red flag. So that's completely my fault not trusting my gut to just go else where. The day arrived that I had to go to court I thought he would be there to represent me. I had to speak to the judge alone. He didn't even care to warn me and I realized it when I showed up and I didn't even seen his face on the screen. I paid a retainer fee of $8500 for him to file my petition which I could have done for free and that's literally all he did for me for $8500. When he filed my petition it was a literal joke. It was sloppy and he did it under 5 minutes. He did it so unorganized.
I'm leaving a bad review for custody battle. I came to Vernon Ellicott initially, seeking help. The father of my children wanted all control of my parental rights. He wanted to be the one to choose the schools and wanted me to pay for private school. And he even wanted my children to live with him permanently. Vernon then tried to convince me to allow my children to attend the school in fathers favor. I disagreed. He made me feel like I had a chance I gave her schools that met father half way. I thought there was progress and I had a chance We went back and forth for almost 2 years. But in the I had to agree with what father wanted and I got nothing out of this fight. I had to agree with my kids attending a school that father wanted. I had to agree to pay private preschool for my youngest child. In total I paid about 13,000. I paid 5,000 so that I could get help with child support and I did not receive anything. After my court hearing I NEVER heard from Vernon.
My rating speaks for itself. As a bankruptcy attorney, he was not informing, helpful, compassionate or attentive. I had to pressure him for basic responses. His assistants did most of his responding. As his client, I felt brushed aside. I do not know about his level of competency about his other areas of practiced. He does not seem to be a specialist in the area of bankruptcy.
