The worst experience I have ever had with an attorney names Vernon Ellicott. They overcharge for work that is not done. Mr. Ellicott represented to me that he had my X Husband's completed AFI several times, months down the road and thousands of dollars later it turns out it was missing 3 pages the entire time. They also had someone in their office go through my X Husband's bank records and credit report and represented to the court and I that they had all of my X's information, they did not. They missed a very critical and very obvious account that would have been crucial in my child support number. Fast forward to them not representing me, they were supposed to hand over all of my documents to the next attorney. Months later this still has not happened. Their office is completely disorganized. They expect you to log into the court system to get updated on your case instead of letting you know if there are updates. They are completely disinterested in anything but racking up fees.
Absolutely terrible law firm. Save your money and your time. They over charge and under deliver. Not recommended.
I worked with lousy Vernon Ellicott for the last year, and sadly the best thing he was able to do in my custody case was encourage me to immediately file a domestic violence restraining. Multiple times before custody hearings I would speak with him before hand and would be told one thing, and then when things went badly I was literally told "well what did you expect?" A complete scoundrel. This law firm is extremely unprofessional. I am so so sad I spent my life savings with this firm and entrusted them with the safety of my son, all for them to suggest I was in the wrong for leaving my abuser/sons father and moving home to be with my family when I had nowhere else to go. Mr. Ellicott is frankly disgusting to suggest I should have aborted my child.
Within 15 seconds of introducing myself to Miller, he was dripping with condescension towards me. I'm not easily shaken by people, but this was so conspicuously condescending, I was baffled. He asked me questions, and I would try to answer but he would interrupt me almost immediately and act annoyed at me trying to answer the questions. Why would he treat people like that if his job is to help people who are coming out of really difficult situations? It was bizarre, let alone unprofessional. Maybe he was having a really bad day. But from the moment I walked in there he wasn't going to give me the time of day.
Terrible experience with Vernon Ellicott with the strong inclination that he should be disbarred and not in no way be a family law attorney. It amazed me they he been in the business for so long. I noticed some very damaging errors from I honestly feel sorry for anyone who is a client of Vernon Ellicott and not sure why they are taking on new ones if they are 'so busy'. Avoid like the plague. Would give zero stars is possible. This is your warning.
Hiring Vernon Ellicott was one of the worst mistakes I've ever made. I retained them for my divorce. I ended up paying for the summons, the response to my spouse's request for an extension. My spouse filed a motion to abate, (without my consent),a hearing was scheduled, I had already spent $10,000 at this point. I had to dismiss the attorney. I felt I was being taken advantage of. I ended up spending another $10000 to clean up his mess. After I received what was left of the trust from them, I got another bill for 30.00! A total disgrace and a shyster.
Very poor representation and communication. Failed me miserably and destroyed my family law case. Avoid this lousy attorney.
My divorce experience is well is behind me now...I am writing this review to protect other couples and parents to fell in Vernon Ellicott's trap! My first impression of Vernon after meeting and talking to him is that he is experimented, knowledgeable and confident yet very approachable. I hired him immediately (big mistake) thinking he will be a perfect fit for what I was looking for in a lawyer...experimented and strong but not over aggressive to avoid escalating the already exciting conflicts between my ex and I during the divorce process and most importantly keeping my kid safety and interest my main focus and priority. Well Vernon is all but that !!!!! The only "knowledge" I received from him is that he is the "expert" on drilling a hole in his client's pocket, his "focus" was dragging the process, requesting all kind of costly procedures and aiming for court rather than settlement (again hoping to get more money...and I am talking thousands rather than hundreds). Vernon's lack of
DO NOT HIRE VERNON ELLICOTT!!!!!!!! After my ex husband submitted a claim to try to prevent me from relocating with our daughter, I hired Mr. Ellicott to fix my issue. I live Ventura County, which is where Mr. Ellicott states he has a office. He makes me drive all the way down to his court street location for a consult. At the consult he tells me I will have to pay him a $10000.00 retainer fee for him to take care of my issue. I write him a check. He asks me when my court date is. I tell him. He tells me he will NOT be available on that day but will have an associate fill in for him. His associate has my case dismissed in 9 seconds. I call Mr. Ellicott for another issue because I know I have a major credit with him. He is cold and callus and dismissive. And tells me I don't need a lawyer for this extremely serious issue. I consult with a couple of other attorneys who inform me that family court issues charge by the court appearance and not retainer fees. About $350-400 per court app
ernon Ellicott lies about everything. He was the lead attorney in my fraudulent divorce case. He never notified me of hearing dates and ignored filing domestic violence reports. My husband made over $600, 000 year and Vernon filed a divorce and showed income under $120,000.00 a year. And in a default judgement he could have asked for everything. He didnt follow through on the 2 other wage assignments for the 2 other locations my husband worked. I had to support 5 people at poverty level. While my husband took first class air and hotel to Dubai and elsewhere. He only sent me the last page of my divorce agreement by fax to sign. He told me it was just an affidavit that I wrote I was signing , not the last page of my DEFAULT DIVORVE JUDGEMENT . The next thing i knew i was divorced without any assets being settled. And a letter saying, oops we made a mistake and filed abstract for support in the wrong County. They never fixed it.
