About Kenneth C. Kowren

Kenneth C. “K.C.” Kowren started The Veterans Law Office after spending nine years working as both an attorney and accredited claims agent for Robert A. Friedman & Associates, P.S., where he helped more than 1,500 disabled veterans and their surviving spouses obtain veterans disability and dependency and indemnity compensation (DIC) benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In total, K.C. has helped hundreds of veterans win more than $50 million in veterans disability benefits.

A native of Snellville, Georgia, K.C. graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, with a Bachelor of Arts in History. While attending Cornell, K.C. was awarded the Clyde A. Duniway Prize, which is annually awarded to the best student graduating in the History major, and the Frederick George Marcham Award, which is awarded to one student each year for excellence in History. K.C. also received an IBM Thomas J. Watson Memorial Scholarship, which, combined with significant financial aid and earnings from part- and full-time employment, allowed K.C. to become a first-generation college graduate. In his practice, K.C. has won many veterans’ claims for service connection for PTSD by effectively leveraging his background in History and archival research to corroborate the occurrence of stressors which the VA itself could not verify.

After graduating from Cornell University, K.C. attended Stanford Law School, where his studies were funded in large part by the Lazier Family Scholarship Fund. While on a medical leave of absence from Stanford, in 2012, K.C. began working for Robert A. Friedman & Associates, P.S., where he began focusing exclusively on helping disabled veterans. After gaining extensive experience and training in the area of veterans disability law, K.C. graduated magna cum laude from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where he was regularly placed on the Dean’s List and awarded the CALI Award for Excellence in recognition of him having earned the top grade in an intensive course on restorative justice.

In addition to being accredited by the VA to represent veterans in claims for disability compensation, K.C. is admitted to practice law in the State of Washington. He is a sustaining member of the National Organization of Veterans’ Advocates (NOVA).

To all my veteran brothers and sisters out there, I highly recommend that the first phone call you make should be to the Veterans Law Office. After working for over a year to no avail to increase my VA rating, the Veterans Law Office was able to complete the task in less than 4 months. I would sincerely like to thank the entire Veterans Law Office staff for for their outstanding commitment and dedication to Veterans and their legal needs, your efforts are truly appreciated, and this is one veteran that can never say enough good for the work that you do. Thank you for all that you do for our Veterans.

The VA dragged their feet for over two years on my claim but the Veterans Law Office, Mr. Kenneth Kowren, hung in there for me and finally got a positive, successful outcome. I wouldn't have had the same result without their help and tenacity.

The Veterans Law Office represented me on my VA disability compensation claim. The VA granted approval of 100% disability which I can say with certainty can be attributed to the fine job The Veterans Law Office did. I can say unequivocally that I could not have gotten this decision on my own. Thanks so much!!

Wish I could go above 5 stars … I originally entered the military on 8 Jul 1971. I retired from the Marine Corps for length of service in the mid 1990’s, and all views contained herein are my own.I filed a claim with the Veterans Administration in or about mid-2012.Over the years I had several more interactions with the VA about appropriate rating percentages, all to no avail. I only hurt myself by trying to do things on my own.In late 2021 I engaged Kenneth C. Kowren (doing business as) - The Veterans Law Office. I submitted my “case review” to Rylee via their web, who was my primary contact throughout the process. She went over and above what was required of her each and every time I contacted her, whether by email or telephone. I can’t say enough positive things about the prompt, courteous, professionalism these folks provide to veterans. Those who can end up engaging this wonderful group of people truly will be in good hands!! They are truly specialists in what they do.

I can't find enough great things to say about the people at the Veterans Law Office. From the first day I spoke with Mr Friedman to the day of my final decision from the VA, everyone there has been so kind and helpful. I can't believe how hard they worked for me. They all deserve much more than they get for helping Veterans. Mr Kowren did so much more than I ever expected. Susan Blinn is amazing. She was always there when I had a question and to inform me about the progress of my claim. Rylee Shear was there to answer questions I had and was great at preparing me for exams. I will remember all of you. I can't thank you enough.

I filed my first claim in 2015 and had been denied, along with every subsequent appeal, since then. When I contacted The Veterans Law Office I felt I had exhausted all possibilities to appeal my claims. I truly was beginning to lose hope in the system. I am certain that without Mr. Kowren's legal experience and knowledge of the VBA, my claim would still be denied. Within a year, I was finally able to receive a service-connected disability rating from the VA. I also wish to express my deepest appreciation to his legal staff for provided amazing support as well. I highly recommend Mr. Kowren who truly cares about Veterans and the Veterans Law Office!

To any veteran who needs help with a claim, I highly recommend reaching out to Mr Kowren and his amazing staff at The Veterans Law Office. After nearly 30 years of trying to handle VA claims on my own, I was about to give up. I decided to give it one more try, but this time with legal representation. I contacted The Veterans Law Office using the free case evaluation request form on the website and immediately received a call from Mr Kowren. He clearly explained the entire process to me as well as the timeline involved, and gave me an opportunity to ask him any questions I had. I knew right away from our conversation I had made the right choice. Throughout the entire process Mr Nicholas, my case manager, kept me informed and up to date with the status of my claim. Truly professional, caring and respectful, I have a lot of heartfelt gratitude towards the entire team at The Veterans Law Office. In less than 5 months Mr Kowren was able to get my TDIU claim approved. Thank you all!

I want to extend a huge thank you to the Veterans Law Office for the extensive work they did in getting me 100% disability rating. I've never had an ailment so bad it immobilized me for hours on end, but their expertise helped me put together a case with just enough evidence to convince the VA folks that they couldn't say no. Highly recommended!
