About Kenneth C. Kowren

Kenneth C. “K.C.” Kowren started The Veterans Law Office after spending nine years working as both an attorney and accredited claims agent for Robert A. Friedman & Associates, P.S., where he helped more than 1,500 disabled veterans and their surviving spouses obtain veterans disability and dependency and indemnity compensation (DIC) benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In total, K.C. has helped hundreds of veterans win more than $50 million in veterans disability benefits.

A native of Snellville, Georgia, K.C. graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, with a Bachelor of Arts in History. While attending Cornell, K.C. was awarded the Clyde A. Duniway Prize, which is annually awarded to the best student graduating in the History major, and the Frederick George Marcham Award, which is awarded to one student each year for excellence in History. K.C. also received an IBM Thomas J. Watson Memorial Scholarship, which, combined with significant financial aid and earnings from part- and full-time employment, allowed K.C. to become a first-generation college graduate. In his practice, K.C. has won many veterans’ claims for service connection for PTSD by effectively leveraging his background in History and archival research to corroborate the occurrence of stressors which the VA itself could not verify.

After graduating from Cornell University, K.C. attended Stanford Law School, where his studies were funded in large part by the Lazier Family Scholarship Fund. While on a medical leave of absence from Stanford, in 2012, K.C. began working for Robert A. Friedman & Associates, P.S., where he began focusing exclusively on helping disabled veterans. After gaining extensive experience and training in the area of veterans disability law, K.C. graduated magna cum laude from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where he was regularly placed on the Dean’s List and awarded the CALI Award for Excellence in recognition of him having earned the top grade in an intensive course on restorative justice.

In addition to being accredited by the VA to represent veterans in claims for disability compensation, K.C. is admitted to practice law in the State of Washington. He is a sustaining member of the National Organization of Veterans’ Advocates (NOVA).

Mr Kowren and his staff were always quick to answer any questions I had. They got my claim approved within 90 days. I used the DAV for years trying to get my stuff approved and wish I would have contacted Mr Kowren and his staff a long time ago. Don’t hesitate no matter where you are in the country, they’re the ones to help you. Thank you and your staff for everything!

Wish I could go above 5 stars … I originally entered the military on 8 Jul 1971. I retired from the Marine Corps for length of service in the mid 1990’s, and all views contained herein are my own. I filed a claim with the Veterans Administration in or about mid-2012. Over the years I had several more interactions with the VA about appropriate rating percentages, all to no avail. I only hurt myself by trying to do things on my own. In late 2021 I engaged Kenneth C. Kowren (doing business as) - The Veterans Law Office. I submitted my “case review” to Rylee via their web, who was my primary contact throughout the process. She went over and above what was required of her each and every time I contacted here, whether by email or telephone. I can’t say enough positive things about the prompt, courteous, professionalism these folks provide to veterans. Those who can end up engaging this wonderful group of people truly will be in good hands!! They are truly specialists in what they do.

The Veterans Law Office is my champion, now I am rated at 100% because of their representation. Attorney K.C. Kowren took my case when the DAV told me to be happy with 30%. This one choice changed the arc of my life. K.C's knowledge of the law helped to ensure victory in my complex case. My case manager, Susan Blinn, kept the paperwork moving and help settle my anxiety during the tough times. Make a wise choice and choose The Veterans Law Office.

KC and Co from The Veterans Law Office are the best My name is Gary. I Arrived in Nam North of Danang after going thru training in Parris Island and Camp Lejeune. A few guys were telling stories about how much of their whole platoons got wiped out. It was a little while after the tet offensive started in Jan. 1968. I was scared sh**less to start with. I had just found out one of my friends in high school had just got blown away. Fast forward to 2013 when I finally filed for PTSD at the VA. Got turned down. Then I had to file an appeal with the VA claims office. They gave me the "stressor" cuz we got hit with 122mm rockets and mortars but said I didnt have enough proof that was the cause of my PTSD. The DAV tried to help but my appeal wasnt going anywhere.  Finally someone told me u have to get a good attorney. One wouldn't even take my case.  Then i found KC Kowren, Susan and the rest of their great staff online to help me. At first I said to myself why is it taking so long? See wi

The Veterans Law Office and staff made the process of working with the VA to secure the benefits as a result of service connected conditions. The case manager kept me up to date on what was happening and expected times frames for responses. The attorney even reached out to me personally on occasion providing updates and strategies. Without their due diligence and attention to detail the benefits awarded would not have been possible. I highly recommend my fellow veterans to seek consultation with the Veterans Law Office if they have unresolved claims with the VA. Sincerely Gerald Woodard, satisfied client.

KC and his team are absolutely amazing! After filing for VA disability on my own and getting denied on two occasions I decided I needed legal representation if there was any hope of getting any compensation from the VA. During the initial consultation with KC I could tell that he was highly skilled at what he does and extremely knowledgeable about how the entire process works. KC explained to me what he was expecting to get from the VA and he was right on the money. My claim was extremely complicated and would have been a nightmare to fight on my own. I am extremely grateful for him and his legal team.
