About Kenneth C. Kowren

Kenneth C. “K.C.” Kowren started The Veterans Law Office after spending nine years working as both an attorney and accredited claims agent for Robert A. Friedman & Associates, P.S., where he helped more than 1,500 disabled veterans and their surviving spouses obtain veterans disability and dependency and indemnity compensation (DIC) benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In total, K.C. has helped hundreds of veterans win more than $50 million in veterans disability benefits.

A native of Snellville, Georgia, K.C. graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, with a Bachelor of Arts in History. While attending Cornell, K.C. was awarded the Clyde A. Duniway Prize, which is annually awarded to the best student graduating in the History major, and the Frederick George Marcham Award, which is awarded to one student each year for excellence in History. K.C. also received an IBM Thomas J. Watson Memorial Scholarship, which, combined with significant financial aid and earnings from part- and full-time employment, allowed K.C. to become a first-generation college graduate. In his practice, K.C. has won many veterans’ claims for service connection for PTSD by effectively leveraging his background in History and archival research to corroborate the occurrence of stressors which the VA itself could not verify.

After graduating from Cornell University, K.C. attended Stanford Law School, where his studies were funded in large part by the Lazier Family Scholarship Fund. While on a medical leave of absence from Stanford, in 2012, K.C. began working for Robert A. Friedman & Associates, P.S., where he began focusing exclusively on helping disabled veterans. After gaining extensive experience and training in the area of veterans disability law, K.C. graduated magna cum laude from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, where he was regularly placed on the Dean’s List and awarded the CALI Award for Excellence in recognition of him having earned the top grade in an intensive course on restorative justice.

In addition to being accredited by the VA to represent veterans in claims for disability compensation, K.C. is admitted to practice law in the State of Washington. He is a sustaining member of the National Organization of Veterans’ Advocates (NOVA).

Well I was at 93 percent they asked me some questions filled out an affidavit and sent it in to get me a secondary evaluation and I did the work on researching the actual exam I would be doing. The best help I've actually ever had they just summited the paperwork to get me reevaluated again. As a vetrains you can do it on ebenifits or on VA.gov. they just know the right verbiage to use in the statement honest testimony. Take it or leave it I couldn't get past 90% but with these guys I did.

The Veterans Law Office is an incredible group! I would highly recommend any veteran who is having trouble with the VA to contact them immediately. They are extremely professional and highly proficient at getting the results you deserve. And on a side note, they are a team that understands what military men and women deal with when we served. My only regret is that I did not contact them sooner. Do not fight this battle on your own!

I used The Veterans Law Office to help with individual Unemployability (IU). Their staff was very professional and quick to respond to any question I had. I was able to get IU the first time I applied. I don't think it would have been possible for me to get UI without their help. I completely and whole heartily endorse the use of their services.

I had been requesting VA Benefit upgrades for several years only to be rejected each time and having to reapply with the same result, until I contacted, Attorney, KC Kowren and Case Manager, Susan Blinn, of Veterans Law Office. When Attorney KC Kowren and Susan Blinn accept my case, they fought, relentlessly and never surrendered to the the denials. Due to their drive, dedication, diligence and unwavering determination to help me, (and other veterans) Attorney Kowren was successful in winning my case, to which I was granted 100% disability. I am forever grateful and indebted to Attorney, KC Kowren, and Case Manager Susan Blinn, for all they have done to help me. Susan kept me updated and informed me of their progress regularly and encouraged me to not give up and that Mr Kowren would not give up either. KC Kowren and Susan Blinn have forever changed my life for the better. Thank you, KC and Susan. God Bless and keep you and your families healthy and safe. Again, thank you

I've been in the VA disability system since 1994. It has previously taken up to a year to get a decision or a higher level review. The Veterans Law Office office had my case for 30 days and they obtained a higher level review with a favorable decision. I can't say enough about their responsiveness and professionalism. The results speak for themselves. My only regret is not contacting them sooner.
