Our practice focuses upon representation in the following areas: Social Security Disability, VA Disability Benefits, Estate Planning, Inheritance, Probate, Guardianship and Supplemental Security Income law. The firm handles litigation in these areas in the state and federal court systems.

Hired Attorney John R. Heard

I was extremely dissatisfied with the services rendered from this firm. You never speak to John R Heard or any other lawyer for that matter to the very end/Hearing stage. It is all handled administratively or by representatives/interns. Very impersonal. I fired them & I would never recommend them.

This review is not typical for a client my firm represents, we do not know who wrote this. Our clients can speak with an attorney anytime during their case. We work hard for our clients and also offer compassion to help them through a difficult time.

Hired Law Firm

Heard and Smith has very poor communication skills and is not very organized in their office procedures. It took them over 2 months to forward a questionnaire from SSD to me, which was over the 10 day time allowed from SSD. They never call me for updates or email me. And, I have had 2 different law assistants in 8 months.

Hired Heard and smith and it took 2 years to get a court date and just before my hearing I was in hospital over my heart in critical condition and my Dr wrote a letter stating I was disabled. The Attorney sent letter to judge. I won my case but the judge said I became disabled the day the Dr wrote the letter. I also am mentally disabled and that was not mentioned in the hearing so judge said that I became disabled the date the Dr wrote the letter. I got 2 months back pay. You don't get good review just for winning my case. Don't waste your time. Often I called to update then later found out a lot of stuff wasn't updated.

Hired Attorney John R. Heard

His law firm handled our daughter's SSI case, my SS Disabiliy case & hers had to go to the 3rd attempt,then trial.I listened to our daughter's representation legally, completely void of pertinent information! I asked to testify, the judge allowed it. I shared the FACTS of her case & the judges mouth dropped open & said our daughter DEFINITELY qualified! I submitted my case to this firm much later, but our congressman sent my letter of appeal directly to SS in Austin & I won in a month!

I just called because I had questions about marriage and the legalities that it might have on me receiving SSI. The man that answered the phone was harsh and very unfriendly. Wouldn't even let me speak.

Shared all the info I was suppose to. Then lawyer show's up with none of my information and didn't even have the name of my doctor. Then dropped me before my appeal because they messed up my information. Had to reapply! I not recommend that lawyer or this company.

The office never returns client phone calls until the time in which an attorney is specifically handling your case to go to court. I have had several complaints on several employees and was sent to the supervisors lines, more than one supervisor. None of the supervisors ever returned my calls, I had to call more than at least 5 times for one issue. When requesting to speak to someone to assist me, i was told on several occasions, sorry. This law firm is horrible!!!!!!

WARNING RUN AWAY He showed up to the hearing he was an M he yelled at me from the beginning tell me not to tell the judge anything and He did basically nothing and I lost my case after waiting 5 years he’s crap

Heard and Smith tried to do my SSDI case for chronic cancer. initially communication was good with the 1st attorney Later, they could not get my medical records. I did it for them. Then the attorney changed. Still problems with the getting medical records. Whether the attorney went through my medical records, who knows ? Then the hearing was done over the phone on the day that a hurricane hit Ft. Lauderdale. The attorney raised like one issue during the hearing, even though he was a former SSA staff attorney. Later I thought he was representing the SSA instead of me. Seems like he was representing SSA. Bad experience w Heard and Smith. SSDI claim denied for cancer and other medical issues.
