When will I be called for interview for the immigrant visa application?

Answered by attorney Lynne Rogers Feldman
Immigration lawyer at Feldman Feldman Associates, PC
Check the State Department's visa Bulletin for the FB-3 category. When your Priority Date is going to be current in the following month get active and inquire on your case. In the meantime be sure you notify NVC at least once a year and more often If you or the Petitioner moves to make sure they know about you, where you reside and that you still want to go forward.

Can I request for the immigration process to speed up before my wifes visa expires?

Because you are now a USC, the cases should be automatically upgraded. That does mean that technically you are supposed to file an I-130 for your child as well, because immediate relatives can't be on the same petition. You will need to file an I-130 for your daughter and once it is with the NVC, you will want to upgrade your wife's petition. Let the NVC know that you have two family cases and one is for an infant so you can request that the files are matched and sent to the consulate for processing together.

Can you apply for a visa for your spouse if you only have a green card?

When you become a USC, you can file for the green card right away, after having a full consult with a competent immigration attorney who ensures that your wife meets all eligibility requirements. Right now, you can file the first step of the process, the I-130 petition. IT takes currently about three years for her to then be able to file for a green card. However she will not be allowed to do that in the US unless you are a USC. And if she leaves to process, she will trigger a ten year bar. So be careful here and DO NOT do anything without a full consult!
