What is the penalty for unknowingly cashing a stolen check?

Answered by attorney Mark R. Thiessen
Criminal Law lawyer at Thiessen Law Firm
Any warrant would have been for something not related to the check at all. Now regarding the check, you need to remain silent and go talk to an attorney before you say anything. Depending on the amount of the check, it could be a felony.

What is the maximuim sentence for someone if they took someones tennis shoes

Answered by attorney Kenneth G. Wincorn
Criminal Law lawyer at Law Offices of Kenneth G. Wincorn & Associates, P.C.
This is probably filed as a second degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison. If force was used in getting away or while taking the shoes it is robbery. Not much force is necessary. I have handled many of these cases and often the charge can be plea bargained down to a lesser offense

Keep bugging them, but, sadly, this is not as big a deal to the authorities as it is to you. you also have a civil action and can sue her for any damages she has caused you.
