I would recommend Mr. Martell to anyone. I thought his rates were more than reasonable, he and his staff were very professional and courteous. Although my case was very stressful for me I know that it was that much more stressful for Matthew but he didn't buckle under the pressure he was very calm and collected, just another reason he was the best attorney I've ever had. Without a doubt the most genuinely caring guy. So intelligent and a great listener. He answered all of my questions and really has an abundance of knowledge. He was really great working with me because I was just a bag of stress but he was very patient and he helped me calm down. I called around when faced with a difficult situation and am thankful to have spoken with Matt Martell. He listened to what I had to say and advised me in non-legalese, making it understandable for the common man. When I had questions, he answered them and when I called, he responded. If for some reason Matt could not call me quickly, his staff always did. Matt explained the fees to me and I was never caught off guard or surprised. In the costliest negotiation meeting of my life, Matthew Martell made absolutely no effort to improve the terms of my divorce settlement. He made not a single counteroffer. Only because I spoke up for myself in the meeting did I get a reduction in alimony. This does NOT fit the ABA's mandate to act with "zeal in advocacy upon the client's behalf." After the meeting, he wanted me to give him a 5-rating. He raised his rates twice. But his bills had impressive details. Definitely would not hire.
Horrible experience. Was always too busy to do the important things but always managed to spend the retainers as fast as possible. Work products were average at best and he is incredibly condensending. I ended up firing him.
