What should I expect for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia?

Christine Victoria Troy

Immigration lawyer at The Law Office of Christine Troy
I believe this falls into the petty offense exception however criminal immigration is not my focus area. Set up a consult with a competent immigration attorney who does this. Bring the certified court records. Expungement does not apply in the immigration context. You want to have this person coordinate with your criminal attorney as well.

If my fiancé does not want to marry, can I convert my visa so that I can stay in the US anyway?

The K-1 visa is really restrictive. You can only adjust your status based on marriage to your fianc. If you have not overstay by more than 180 days, you could return to your country and try a different way to return.

Can my green card application be continued with the other company?

Justin Wang
Answered by attorney Justin Wang (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at Sheppard Mullin
Generally from L-1A to green card is to file EB1 visa petition, which is different from the H-1/PERM, second or third preference route. You cannot "port" your existing I-140 petition based on your multinational manager position to other company. The new company must start a new application.
