It depends on your status now. If you do not have any ID and your passport has a visa that is expired, you should not be trying to travel.

Since you are a U.S. citizen, your husband is considered an immediate relative. Also since he came on a visa and overstayed he is eligible to adjust status in the United States based on his marriage to you. Consult an immigration attorney to guide you through the process of submitting a one step adjustment of status application.

What can I do if I was given a six month B1 visa instead of a 2 years B1 visa?

Answered by attorney Louis M. Piscopo
Immigration lawyer at Law Offices of Louis M. Piscopo, APLC
The consulate has the authority to issue a B1/B2 for less than two years if if believes that is all the time needed for you to accomplish what you indicated you need the visa for. You can file to renew the visa if you need to travel to the U.S. again.
