How long in jail if a 25 year old man has sex with a 14 year old girl?

Answered by attorney Jason William Savela
Criminal Law lawyer at The Savela Law Firm, P.C.
Honestly, it could be life in prison likely, if convicted, there will be a lifetime of supervision on sex offender probation or parole - registration forever my advice to someone being accused of this - (it does not matter whether false or true): nothing to sneeze at - get a good lawyer now - just tell the police "I want a lawyer" and nothing else - the Supreme Ct says that if you start talking, refusing to continue talking is evidence of guilt beware of the pre-text phone call - she calls suggesting you will be forgiven and all will go away if you just admit to things - this is recorded and directed by police to get you convicted - hang up, call a lawyer and be ready to go to jail, post bond, not talk on jail phone (all recorded).

What can we do if my son was arrested and convicted for a false police report?

Answered by attorney Laurie A. Schmidt
Criminal Law lawyer at 5280 Law Group
Your question is a difficult one to answer without all of the procedural facts about what happened and when it happened. If your son was represented by an attorney, I would contact that attorney with your questions. If your son was not represented or you want to obtain a second opinion, try contacting some local criminal defense attorneys in your area. Best of luck!

Is it possible to clear an out of state warrant without having to travel there?

Answered by attorney Jason William Savela
Criminal Law lawyer at The Savela Law Firm, P.C.
It is possible, but many DAs will want you to appear. If you contact the DA, preferably through an attorney, you might be able to work it out without an appearance. Among the biggest issues will be paying back the money. So, if you can offer to do that, you have the best chance of clearing it without an appearance.
