About Hartsell & Williams Attorneys, P.A.

At Hartsell & Williams Attorneys, P.A., our story is about people, not just dates on a timeline. It began in 1896 when Luther Thompson Hartsell opened a small practice in Concord above Johnston’s Furniture Store. Soon, his son joined him, and the firm grew—moving offices, welcoming new partners, and establishing a lasting presence in the community, including becoming one of the first tenants of the Cabarrus Bank Building in 1924. Decades later, John Hugh Williams and his Duke classmates Brice Willeford and John Boger formed Williams, Willeford, and Boger in 1962, creating another highly regarded Concord firm known for strong trial work. Over time, both firms changed and expanded, always keeping the focus on quality representation and practical solutions. Eventually, the decision was made to come together, combining experience, talent, and shared values under one name. Today, Hartsell & Williams Attorneys, P.A. is proud of its deep roots in Cabarrus County and honored to help clients navigate everything from life planning to life’s unexpected challenges.

Hired Law Firm

We contacted Hartsell & Williams seeking legal counsel after a cross country move where the movers did extension damage to many pieces of furniture and appliances. When we called, we were told there would a retainer fee of $175.00 which was good for a 30 consultation. I paid the $175 over the phone and was told we would be receiving call. We got the call and spoke with Austin “Dutch” Entwistle. He was what seemed to a hurry and was very vague when we asked questions. He was quick to ask for $800 for a retainer fee but did not answer a lot of our questions clearly. We felt like we should discuss retaining them and check our options first and when we told Dutch that he quickly ended the call. The entire call was 7 minutes long. Unable to get things worked out ourselves we decided it was best to call to ask two simple questions and was told by Michelle, Dutch’s assistant, we would need to pay another $175 to speak with Dutch.

Hired Law Firm

My realtor chose them to prepare closing documents for a house we purchased. The documents were prepared inaccurately and caused me to lose money.
We encountered a legal issue during the transaction. They never responded to requests for guidance from either me or my realtor. After repeated attempts we just gave up on them.
