After our original attorney left the firm, Jonathan LaVoy took over the case. If we had known that the penalties were barely negotiable, we never would have wasted thousands of dollars for their representation. If you need their services for a DUI, don't waste your money. Do the best you can to educate yourself and plan for the worst.

Hired Attorney Atty. Benjamin W. Lutgen

I hired him thinking he could possibly help me, what a waste of $13,000. I would have got the same outcome with a public defender. At my initial appearance the officer testified that I didn’t appear under the influence the only reason she suspected I was was due to the smell of weed, when I was sentenced the district attorney lied and said the officer testified I appeared under the influence, Ben said nothing at all. Then I got an ignition interlock for pot and I don’t drink what so ever! I got no charges dropped or amended to lessor charges the only out come was instead of 45 days jail I got 2 weeks jail and 2 years of probation for 1 gram of pot!

Extremely Disappointing and Unethical Experience with Julius Kim Our experience with Kim & LaVoy, S.C., specifically Julius Kim, was nothing short of awful. We paid $15,000 upfront on a Sunday under a fee agreement simply to open discussions and potentially pursue a matter. By Thursday of that same week, we were informed by police that the case would not be pursued and that the matter would go nowhere. In other words, the situation ended almost immediately and never progressed beyond a few basic, preliminary conversations. Despite this, not a single dollar was refunded. We were never provided an invoice, billing statement, or any itemized explanation showing how the $15,000 was supposedly earned. From our perspective, no meaningful legal work was performed at all, and the minimal communication we received came nowhere close to justifying such an enormous fee. Transparency and honesty are the bare minimum anyone should expect from an attorney. We expected to be told upfront if the ma

Would not hire again under any circumstance. What we received in return for a huge investment: - Scare tactics - Poor communication - Poor representation - Showed up late to a hearing - Out maneuvered at every turn - Wasn’t aggressive at defending like they originally stated they would, didn’t utilize critical evidence that was gathered. - We were assigned an attorney that clearly is inexperienced, needed to consult with others for answers. - Keep shopping people, don’t waste your money.
