Bretta Marie Zimmer Lewis

So far Bretta Lewis has exceeded my expectations, she is very straight forward and will strive to get you the best possible outcome. She's been working with me on my custody case for almost what has dragged out to be a year, & through out that time, she's helped me maintain my self confidence and has went the extra mile to ensure I am being treated fair and am able to see my daughter. I'm very impressed & highly recommend her.

Bretta came into our custody case midstream after we had gotten rid of our other lawyer. She was very knowledgeable and though. She responded to our messages immediately and made sure we understood everything. In court she was ready, prepared and not phased by the other parties. When we were done other people were asking me my attorneys name because they were so impressed with how she handled our case! Highly, highly recommend her.

Avoid this GAL at all costs. The insensitive and damaging way she interrogated my 8 year-old daughter caused serious trauma during an already difficult time. Now 5 years later, she is receiving mental health services and it was the first thing she mentioned to her therapist. The experience left her mistrustful of any professional who wanted to talk with her about her parents’ divorce, and created even greater division within our family.

Bretta Lewis is an incompetent, money hungry lawyer that will not consider the needs of the children she represents. She is a bully that will put your child in harms way regardless of the mental health issues or abuse surrounding your case. Bretta Lewis will put your child in danger. Pray she is never assigned as your GAL or try to have her removed. She is more concerned with lining her pockets and making money than the safety of her clients or what is in a child’s best interest. She knows people within the system who have covered her shady ways. Bretta does not care about the well being of your child or their mental health. Bretta Lewis should not be practicing and she has no business being around children or looking out for what is in their best interest. She is more concerned with who is covering her bill and how she will make money. I think it is interesting her negative reviews are at the bottom of the list on this website and several of them have been removed. Be warned...

Worst attorney I have ever met. I used to be employed at one of the largest corporate law firms in Hampton Roads, so I've met a lot of attorneys. Bretta was hired when my son found himself in a bit of legal trouble. She was absolutely awful. She was rude and did not care at all about the outcome. Have never recommended her and never will. Side note: my son is doing very well now.

Impatient, her way or the highway. Not someone you want on your case. She slipped through the cracks... Not a good lawyer, wouldn't trust her with any aspect of the case.
