In December of 2021 I was bit by a large dog while walking on a public sidewalk. The dog broke free of a leash and was able to jump a fence to attack me, biting me twice and knocking me to the ground to sprain a finger. I spent a few hours at the hospital with torn pants and needed several visits with dermatologist in the coming months. I now have two permanent marks on my left leg. This attack was disruptive to my life. I contacted several law firms, some didn't return my phone calls, some said it was doubtful I could collect anything beyond medical expenses. Virginia like many states has a "One Bite Free" policy or rule, meaning that the dog owner is somewhat off the hook for the very first dog bite. Well Becker, K & B didn't see it that way. They interpreted the first bite rule to be more of a warning to the dog owner that a second bite might result in charges or the dog being surrendered. So they took my case and some 13 months later I collected an amount under $10K :)
