Cate & Brough Law Firm is a law firm established in 1995 with an office in Spartanburg, SC. At this office location, there are 3 lawyers practicing criminal defense, dui defense, divorce and 26 other areas of law.
Never would we had expected such poor service and results from a lawyer who was suppose to represent our case. We had high expectations due to her reputation but we were deceived. This was the worse experience. There was never any counseling or coaching. We had to initiate any agreement and make suggestions. Neither Ruth or Rachel were proactive, they just wanted to finish and take our money. They were rude, condescending and at times very unprofessional.Please look elsewhere if you want someone to fight for you and care about your children. This firm does not. They are quick to rush to judgement and were not interested in the true underlying cause of our case. We made a dreadful mistake in hiring this firm and the cost was catastrophic for the children involved.
This lady was extremely unprofessional and awful to deal with. People like this give the legal profession a bad name. Some people only care about money and not justice.
Horrible experience with Chris Brough. I was treated like the client of a public defender even though I was a paying client. I spent a total of 1 hour with this man before resolution – a resolution I negotiated! I received little to no communication on the process or usable advice. I got more advice from my ex-spouse’s attorney than my own. Throughout this process I was flying in the dark. When I told them that I reached a settlement with the former spouse all he cared about doing was dragging this out for more billable hours. Chris wanted to stall, stall, stall so they could get more money – this was not in my best interest at all. Attorneys are supposed to represent their client’s best interest – if that’s what you are looking for stay away from this place.

As a mater of fact, Chris first pass over the settlement agreement (one they got WRONG) had me paying out money and he said it was “a good deal.” I told him to write up the agreement I gave him – one in which I RECEIVED money. I had to coax my own layer into a better deal. Is that how this is supposed to work? Keep in mind that prior to this I only saw him twice and both meetings were less than 30 minutes. So, all the preliminary work on my case was done and came out to $1,865.50. The initial filings, serving papers, etc. The remainder of the activity – that they claim comes out to $2,900? Really, for them to just write the settlement agreement I negotiated for MYSELF. I had to go back and forth 3 time
