They were terrible. No communication, ended up costing us more money in the end.
We were passed around to different lawyers a total of 5 times. When we called to speak to our lawyer we only got voicemail and they never returned our calls. It took a total of 4 years and over $7,000.00 to complete our bankruptcy and then we find out not everything we listed was included. They do soddy work and charge too much. It only caused more frustration for us having to deal with the devastation of bankruptcy and this terrible law firm!!
I have sent many emails, left voice mails, and have been trying for a year to get this bankruptcy completed for a year. The beginning Attorney was Phillips and Lyon's that one went to jail this guy took over and shut down the office we began at and didn't inform us so now I finally talked to a live person today and am now waiting to hear what they will tell us this time.
I felt like I was dealing with car salesmen. I thought I was in trouble and they pressured me, then came the middle man, then came the closer, I was so scared gave them my credit card and let them charge $9,000.00 which brought me to financial ruins and I never heard anything back from them.
Paperwork was not filed in a timely manner. Correct paperwork was not filed to protect my home, because of this I had to file a chapter 13 bankruptcy with another attorney to protect my home. Phillips and Associates would not accept fault.
Didn't follow through investigating the case, lied to me,had a different attorney at every court appearance, they didn't know any thing about me or my case, they took my money and more or less sold me out because they were humiliated of the prosecuting att. results,[6 years in the state pen. ! I WAS INNOCENT FALSELY ACCUSED ]
When we arrived at their office they would not even talk to us without having the money up front (later I saw their commercial stating payment options, but none were offered to us). My wife had to cash in her savings bonds. We had never filled for bankruptcy. I didn't feel like our review was confidential because prior to our turn,I could hear both the party's and the counsel's conversations coming through the partition in the room. There was NO confidentiality administered there!
The filing was timely but follow up terrible. My specific issue was a re-affirmation. With many threats from me and creditor it took 14 months to finish it. NO return of phone calls, answered emails, phone messages. They changed my case lawyer 3 times in that period of time. A total overpriced experience. The only time I got responses was certified letter with threats of reporting them to the state board. Then top lawyer would react within the department. Cheap like a Walmart
I think it has to do with the fact that they are too big. I would have preferred a smaller size firm or individual attorney because when I ask questions I want sole attention on me. I did not get that from Phillips & Associates. I do not want to wait 24 to 48 hours to get an answer. The biggest turn off was that I wanted a reconciliation done for my car and it was totally ignored AND I was not told that I would still have to pay stuff (HOA) because the house was still in my name. UPSET!
scammed me out of my money, and by not showing up for a court date in my stead, I ended up with fines greater than if I had not hired them at all... then had the nerve to charge me
