This attorney is absolutely terrible but I'll still give him two stars because he refunded me half of my money! I highly advise you to NOT hire him. I had the worst experience because he didn't know how to do his job correctly. He doesn't return your calls and he doesn't review your case before going to court. Yes, his name is Michael Collum and his partner is Ms. David Handel. He is VERY unprofessional. He came to court unprepared, and he didn't even know the age or gender of my child. After court, he went behind my back to speak to the opposing attorney and said that I could not win this case from the beginning. Hiring this attorney was the WORST decision ever. He takes no pride in his work and flirts with other man in front of me. The only pleasure he takes is in cashing your check! Please do not hire Michael Collum; believe me you will regret it if you do.

I wish I had read the last several reviews before hiring R. Michael Collum. I agree with many of the reviewers. In my situation he did not communicate what was going on, did not make valuable recommendations, did not respond to phone calls and emails, did not provide a statement of account for his services, and basically took my money while showing no concern for the outcome of your case. Quite frankly who needs to work with someone that you constantly need to nudge, cajole and pester with a hope of getting things done? I signed a contract with him early in October 2019, did not see any paperwork or forward movement until after Thanksgiving. I had to keep pleading for updates and information to help set my expectations of the proceedings. My inquiries were not even given the courtesy of a brief email or text stating that he had received the information. I knew I was done with him when I complained to him that referring me to his staff

It's not often than I right a negative review on a business. I understand that negative reviews can impact a business and I'm very conscious about avoiding emotional reviews and to stick to the facts. In this case, I allowed several months to pass so that I'm just relying on facts and not emotion. I retained Michael Collum and David Handel based in the recommendation of a family friend so I went in with confidence based on that. I needed an attorney to help with an urgent custody matter. I retained him and paid my fees upfront. Within a few weeks, communication completely stopped. I emailed several times per week. Called the office and there were no responses. Several months after retaining him, I finally got through to a paralegal Al that basically said "I'll relay the message and have him call you back". No return calls. I called back again and she said the same thing again. Finally, 3 months later, he responded in an email, no phone call (May 2022), No apologies

Watch out if you hire Michael Collum as your attorney. He charged me over $8000 for a simple divorce, and I hired another attorney who discoveredalisecooper45@outlook.com that Micahel had over billed me by $4000. A letter of demand was sent to him, and he offered me $500. We decided to pursue arbitration, and Michael countered with an offer of $2250, saying that it was "far more than would be awarded in arbitration." Along with the offer, I would also be required to sign a contract agreeing to remove my negative reviews, and desist from writing any future reviews concerning him. Hmm...hush money? We believed that the evidence of his flagrant double billing would speak for itself, and decided to move forward. On the day of the hearing, my attorney was stunned to find out that the arbitrator knew Michael from previous trials (he should have been informed before the hearing).

Michael Collum is the worst! He does not listen to what the client wants. He just does what he thinks is best. I felt like he just wanted to get paid and didn't care about what I wanted. I would not hire. Find someone else that is better and actually cares about the client.

DO NOT hire this attorney! What a waste of money! He seemed great in the beginning, but she stopped fighting for me in the end. It seemed like he just wanted my case to be over, and didn't care at all what happened to me or my child. He let the opposing counsel take advantage of me, and I got a terrible financial arrangement. He was absolutely useless in the courtroom, then became hostile and aggressive when I fired him. I wish he had represented my ex, instead!

DO NOT HIRE! Horrible. Doesn't represent you her client. Lazy Useless and only blows through retainer charging for emails and phone calls he provoked due to poor communication. Filing a complaint with the state's lawyer discipline agency.

My girlfriend and I hired Michael Collum. We were between him and another lawyer, and we regret we went with him for the following reasons: - He did not accomplish anything that he said he'd fight for on our first visit. - He failed to provide critical advice that would have protected us in the process and that I'm sure a better lawyer would have communicated. - He delayed the process for months, when it could have been much quicker, and again, to accomplish nothing. - He charged us double what the other lawyer, a reputable one, quoted us.
