I walked away from a mortgage in 2010 after trying to negotiate a short sale. The bank was impossible to deal with and I was fed up. The bank then repossessed and sold the property, but also sold my outstanding HELOC to a collections company. This collections company continued to call me for years in pursuit of the deficiency, which was over $60,000. Mr. Schneider successfully negotiated this deficiency for 10% face value and I was able to pay without filing for bankruptcy.
