Leave a review about your experience with this lawyer.A year after my divorce, I entered a case to try to obtain full custody of my child. After a long search, Doug and his associates, (Cole Bingham and Tasia Otteson), were highly recommended by a friend. Although the case is still ongoing, Doug and his team have been a great team, fighting for my rights to protect my child. While I wouldn't say that he is the cheapest lawyer out there, his experience, knowledge of family law, and professionalism have given me every confidence that it has been money well spent. I am confident that regardless of the outcome of the trial, that Doug and his team have given me the best possible chance for success. I would highly recommend Doug and his associates to anyone.
Doug Thayer came highly recommended, so I met with him, discussed my case, and felt comfortable placing my case in his hands. He is excellent in all matters. In particular, I appreciated his deep understanding of domestic law. In essence, he knows how to try a divorce case. I also relied heavily on his almost unerring judgment as we discussed my case together. And he is a great communicator. He explained legalities in understandable terms. Simply stated: he is very, very good.
Mr.Thayer has represented me pro bono for 8 years in a domestic case. He is smart, hardworking, dedicated and caring. Mr. Thayer treats his clients with respect. The paralegals in the firm are very experienced, courteous and efficient. Mr.Thayer is always sharp and well prepared in court. He has in-depth knowledge of the law and years of practical experience. Mr.Thayer provided me with excellent and highly effective representation. He truly cares about the welfare of his clients. I am very thankful.
Doug is a bulldog and not afraid of a fight. He went right to work on my complaints and sent a great cease and desist letter that really got results. His fees are inline with other attorneys and he makes great use of his extremely talented legal team to keep fees down. I recommend Doug for any type of litigation and he will be my first choice if I need legal advise again.
I found Mr. Thayer to be very professional and right to the task. When I first meet with him, he introduced his team of lawyers, paralegal, and secretaries. I was very comfortable with them. Whenever I emailed regarding my case, I addressed my needs to the paralegal and copied Mr. Thayer. This way, he was kept in the loop but if the paralegal handled my questions, I was billed the lower rate. At trial, Mr. Thayer was brilliant and remembered every detail. He was worth whatever his fee. I won!
Mr. Thayer represented me for 3.5 years in a complicated domestic case, out of which 2.5 years he has worked pro bono. He has genuinely looked out for my best interest as his client, and offered me the same high level of quality service when he represented me for free as when I was a paying client. He never mitigated my wishes to be “done with the case”, sparing no resources. I have nothing but good to say about his superior skills as a lawyer and the level of service I received.
Doug Thayer represented me in a taxing domestic case. I needed someone that could stand up for my rights, understand my needs, and help me make informed and good decisions moving forward. Doug was my advocate. Figuring out the legal system while trying to protect your children, can be difficult. I felt that his experience and guidance made things so much easier. His team is amazing. I felt they were invested in what was best for me. I highly recommend Mr. Thayer and his team.
Only interested in the money he earns for the hours he puts in - not the client. Does not keep his word. $13,000.00 was spent in a four month period and NOTHING was accomplished. I was left in the same situation I was in when I hired him. He then said he would do nothing more without another $5000.00 retainer and withdrew from my case without talking anything over with me.
This attorney says he tries to keep costs down by having his assistant and paralegal do much of the work, but by doing so, he is out of the loop not knowing what is going on. He has to spend hours bringing himself up to date before any hearings or communications, costing more than if he would have done the work in the first place. I have spent $20,000.00 in four months and nothing has been accomplished. He has little compassion or concern for his clients.
In the Rules of Professional Conduct, it says: The lawyer should also consult with the client and seek a mutually acceptable resolution of the disagreement. Doug does very little consulting. He bosses. He has little recognition that clients are experts in their circumstances and goals. As I would try to get him to consider something, he would quickly dismiss it with something like, “end of story.” He is constantly reminding you how he is the expert, yet he was losing about half my hearings even though I have a good case. He would regularly threaten withdrawing by saying things like, “If you don’t agree, I’ll withdraw." His ego also blinds him to creative solutions, which was greatly needed in our complex case. Doug and firm were slow at responding to questions and moving the case forward. When he dismissed himself from the case to the judge, he stabbed me in the back by telling the judge I swore at him and threatened him. He runs up your bill and only won about half the hearings.
