My grandmother has been here for 10 years and her green card has expired can she become a citizen or she needs to renew?

Answered by attorney David H Nachman
Immigration lawyer at NPZ Law Group
She can certainly apply for Citizenship as long as she meets the requirements. It would be best to apply for a new green card as she will want to go to the interview showing an updated green card. We are aware of some folks who do NOT update their green card in some cases but we do not recommend that.

If I am about to marry my husband and I was born in the United Stated how can I fix his papers after we get married?

Answered by attorney David H Nachman
Immigration lawyer at NPZ Law Group
It sounds like you can file the I-130/I-485 and make a simultaneous filing. If you husband entered the U.S. without inspection then he may have to do a Provisional Waiver. There are many nuances to doing a case like this (especially if your husband is out of status). You may want to consider engaging a competent immigration law professional who would be able to assist you with regard to this matter.

Immigration

Answered by attorney Alan Lee
Immigration lawyer at Alan Lee Arthur Lee, Attorneys at Law
Your getting married does not affect your relationship to your parents immigration-wise. You are still eligible to sponsor your parents for permanent residence. Note that the addition of a spouse does increase your household size by one more, and so if you eventually give an I-864 affidavit of support, the amount of support must cover one more person. That one more person, however, can also be a plus if the person is working and has income to contribute to the support of your parents.
