Your grandmother can not file for you. However, you might qualify for a U visa. A U visa is something available to victim of certain crimes, provided they assisted in the investigation / prosecution of the perpetrator. The crime must have occurred in the US. (you mentioned living in South Africa, but it is unclear where the crime occurred). You should consult an attorney experienced with such U visa (I am!) to determine whether you actually qualify.

Your question requires an attorney consultation. It is not a simple question that can be answered on this type of forum. There are many factors that would need to be considered and evaluated. I strongly suggest that you contact an experienced immigration and, apparently, a divorce attorney for a face-to-face consultation and give them all of the facts surrounding your situation. They would then be in a better position to analyze your situation and advise you of your options.
