You can go to jail if a misdemeanor for up to 6 months. Were there people hurt in another car? You need a lawyer.

Warrants are forever until cleared by dealing with the case. To handle a warrant, you must turn yourself in to the issuing court. You'll try to negotiate a recall of the warrant[s] and seek bail reduction or OR release. You'll try to negotiate a plea bargain on any ?Failure to Appear? charge or probation violation that caused the warrant. You'll try to negotiate a plea bargain or take to trial the outstanding charge that caused the warrant. In CA on misdemeanors alike DUI, an attorney can appear in court without the defendant being present. You'll have to ask an OR attorney if the same is true there.

You need to hire a new lawyer if you hired the first lawyer. If he is court appointed or a public defender you can ask for a Marsden hearing. You might want to talk to your current lawyer, maybe he based his advice on your information which was contradicted by the police report and/or his investigation of the case. Sometimes I tell clients, if that is true, then we have a good issue.
