We need more information. Where did you live together? How long were you married? What is the reason you think you might be entitled to spousal support? In what Michigan court was the case filed? You certainly cannot simply sit back and think you will be able to ask for spousal support in Virginia at some later time. You need advice from a Michigan attorney in the county the case is filed in, and that attorney needs to know all the facts. Good Luck.

I am married to a Malaysian. Is our marriage legal here in the US? Can I marry someone from the US? Do I need to divorce him in Malaysia?

If the marriage was legal there its legal here. Find out whether Malaysia accepts US divorces. If it does you can file here and have him personally served in Malaysia. You can't remarry legally until you get divorced.

What can I do if my ex-husband denies being served divorce papers?

Answered by attorney Dean Michael Esposito
Divorce lawyer at Esposito Law Firm
Yes, but he would have to prove his case. The third party would testify that he did serve Him and your husband would lose.
