Make some calls. Ask your friends who they ised. Check rating services like Avvo. Then speak to at least two attorneys and discuss your goals and options.    From there you should be in a position to make a choice.

How long after husband signs initial divorce papers will it be final?

Kristen Prata Browde

That can't be answered without knowing what was signed and filed. You can look in the courthouse file - but, the bottom line is that once the papers have all been signed and filed it takes anywhere from two weeks to a year for a judge to get to your uncontested case - and how long depends on the county in which the filings were made and the backlog in that county on the day you filed.
