How do one go about firing one's attorney?

Answered by attorney Seth David Schraier
Divorce lawyer at Law Office of Seth D. Schraier, P.C.
In a divorce proceeding, an attorney cannot represent both spouses as it is seen as a conflict of interest. You may choose to proceed on your own in the case without an attorney representing you and negotiate directly with your spouse's attorney, but that attorney is not allowed to represent both of you during the divorce.

How to get my money from QDRO?

David J Hutchinson
Answered by attorney David J Hutchinson (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at David J. Hutchinson
Did your ex sign the QDRO? Was it then signed by the Judge? Was it then served upon the entity holding the funds/ If any of these steps was missed, nothing is happening. If all were accomplished, contact the folks holding the funds and ask whtere things are in the analysis of the QDRO. Good Luck.

Is there any way I can get a Divorce without going to court because my Husband is in New York?

Answered by attorney James T Weiner (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at James T. Weiner, P.C.
A divorce can ONLY be granted by a court of proper jurisdiction (whether here in Michigan, in Minnesota or in New York). There is no other way to get legally divorce. If you have been separated for a substantial amount of time and you want nothing from him (and he consents) a divorce should not be expensive (<$1K).
