I'm getting divorce for that second marriage, is my ex entitled to ask for my house?

Richard B. Jacobson
Answered by attorney Richard B. Jacobson (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Richard B. Jacobson Associates, LLC
Your ex is entitled to ask for anything. But under these facts, he is not likely to get the house, since you brought it into the marriage. So long as it remains in your name, it is likely to be determined to be your separate or individual property. But in a divorce it's almost always a good idea to have a good lawyer by your side.

Can I take my husband off my medical insurance?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Barbara Peyton (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Peyton & Associates
When you say "taken out of the court system" do you mean that the divorce case has been dismissed? If yes, you can take him off your health insurance. If no, you cannot do so without a court order or a written agreement with your husband to take him off the health insurance.

How does alimony work?

William H Nebeker
Answered by attorney William H Nebeker (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Havens Law, LLC
When a party to a divorce requests alimony a court must consider a number of factors, one of which is the respective amount each spouse makes. One factor is not dispositive but may reduce or otherwise effect an award of alimony. The best thing to do is to come in for a free consultation to assess all of the factors for alimony and enhancing your chances in your claim for alimony to be granted by the court.
