Do I have to file in the county I was married in or can I file in the county I now live?

Answered by attorney Julie Anne Ringquist (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Law Office of Julie A. Ringquist
You file where you currently have residency. In most circumstances, it takes six months of living there before you have residency and the court obtains jurisdiction over your marriage. It does not matter where you were married, where you reside is what matters.

You will not be able to sign documents which have to be notarized until you change your name and get a new CA diver's license.

How soon can I remarry after a divorce is finalized?

Tajara Dommershausen
Answered by attorney Tajara Dommershausen (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Petit & Dommershausen, S.C.
Six months after the final divorce; however, just because it is scheduled for a final date, unless you have an agreement it won't be completed on that date.
