Can I make him pay alimony and can he just divorce me?

Answered by attorney James T Weiner (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at James T. Weiner, P.C.
You really need an attorney. Please contact a divorce/family law attorney about this. A good divorce attorney should be able to answer these questions and make your ex pay your attorneys fees since he apparently controls all of the money in your marriage. If you cannot find one, contact legal aide.

Can I get child support during lengthy divorce?

Answered by attorney Helene Ellenbogen (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Law Offices of Helene Ellenbogen P.S.
You could have made a motion for temporary orders right after the divorce was filed to get both child support and maintenance if appropriate. That's assuming the child is with you most of the time.

Do I need to mail the court and him a letter letting them know that he can stop paying or is a verbal statement to my ex husband enough?

Answered by attorney Marcia J. Mavrides
Divorce lawyer at Mavrides Law
You should mail him a letter stating your situation. Keep a copy for yourself. There is no need to file the letter with the court and it is only an issue if either one of you asserts a contrary position.
