A marriage license proves the marriage, a Judgment of Divorce proves its ending, both are public records.

How do I begin the divorce process and where should I start?

Aimee Carol Robbins
Answered by attorney Aimee Carol Robbins (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Law Offices of Aimee C. Robbins
You really need to hire an attorney, given your situation. If her assets and pension were accumulated during the marriage, you are entitled to your share of those assets, and possibly alimony if she is working and has a significantly higher income than you.

Is a UK divorce decree enforceable in the USA?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney James T Weiner (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at James T. Weiner, P.C.
Yes. A UK divorce degree is enforceable in the US. As to the conditions of alimony. If they are not being met you do not owe it so write a letter with your next check ask him for specifics as to his compliance with the conditions if he does not respond stop paying. (or better yet pay into an escrow account just in case he challenges it and you loose)
