My husband bought a couple of houses a couple of years ago and I'm wanting to move into one without him do I have any rights to the house?

If he bought house with marital assets you have a percentage ownership in the marital asset. YOu would need to file a petition in Family Court for property division.

I have my divorce that was filed in Canada by my exhusband, but i dont know if it's valid in us and i never recorded it in any court here how do i kno

Answered by attorney Cindy S. Vova
Divorce lawyer at Law Offices of Cindy S. Vova, P.A.
The United States courts recognize divorces from other countries, so the divorce would be "valid" in Miami, FL. You do not need to register it for it to be valid. UNLESS, you are trying to pursue some sort of relief from the FL courts with regards to the divorce decree. Than you would need to domesticate the foreign judgment (divorce) and proceed from there depending on the relief you are seeking. It is a technical and complicated matter and I would suggest you retain an attorney for this process.       Best of Luck,   Helena Y. Farber, Esq. ~Associate Attorney~   Law Office of Cindy S. What can I get as a common law wife?

Robert Jensen 'Bob' Matlock
Answered by attorney Robert Jensen 'Bob' Matlock (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Mackoy, Hernandez, Jones and Woods LLP
You will need to prove the two of you lived together, had an understanding that the two of you were married and held yourselves out to others as being married. If you can prove those elements, the judge will view the assets and debts as being community property and divide them between you. I suggest you hire a lawyer.
