How long do I have to pay alimony in NJ

Answered by attorney Diana L. Anderson
Divorce lawyer at Diana L. Anderson
How long you have to pay alimony is made up of a few different factors like how much each party earned, or is earning, how long was the marriage, are there children, etc.  Sometimes there is limited duration alimony like only a few years, if the marriage was short and both parties have earning potential there might not be any alimony.  Also you can negotiate a deal to divide assets in a certain was to avoid any alimony.

Does my husband have equal ownership of a house I purchased in my maiden name after we were married?

Edward Jay Zohn
Answered by attorney Edward Jay Zohn (Unclaimed Profile)

Ownership is different from "marital right." 50/50 distribution based on marital rights is not automatic. If you divorce after a short marriage he is unlikely to get much, if anything, out of the house. Edward Zohn, Attorney at Law, 908.791.0312
