Hired Law Firm
I would give Miguel Mondragon and Burnham Law a zero if this platform would let me. My divorce is now final, but the process was far more stressful than it needed to be due to my Miguel’s lack of communication, compassion, and responsiveness. Since its completion, I requested by complete client file, and have requested it multiple times since September 2025, the firm has still failed to produce it all to me. Everything about this firm is messy. I was overcharged, which the firm admitted, but I had to go through my bill line by line to identify the overcharges. Management has been unresponsive, and my attempts to resolve this professionally have gone unanswered. To make matters worse, I received an email containing information from another client’s case, which I believe is a serious breach of confidentiality and trust. Divorce is an incredibly difficult and emotional process, and I felt no empathy or understanding from Miguel Mondragon or Burnham Law. Communication was non-existent
I had to handle my case from Pueblo because my ex left me and filed in Windsor. Miguel Mondragon was assigned to my case and quickly proved he was no match for a free, state appointed attorney. He would always say he was fighting for me but every court date he would let the opposing attorney dismiss it although I had given him directives of things I wanted addressed on that date. If I expressed any disappointment with his representation he would either get patronizing or treat me as if I was unreasonable. The end result was I felt as if I was forced to settle because I had no faith in him to go to court and win. He constantly would tell me worst case scenarios, didn't even speak or attempt to speak with my witnesses, and I ended up paying almost $20,000 in fees, which is almost double the average cost, and ended up paying alimony for 10 years when I had told him I would agree to 6 years. My advice, find another firm, or at least say HELL NO if they assign Miguel Mondragon to your case.
See Fb Review for full description. James McQiade was unable to handle his work load, Which means I suffered as he neglected my case. Burnham Law then gave my case to Faith Betz who I met with only one time via google meets and who charged me close to 4000 in bogus and fraudelent made up charges.

Hired Law Firm
This is the worst law firm I have come across. I was just speaking to Leslie Shafer, and her ignorance was shown in 30 seconds, probably less. She would rather distract you with intimidation than do her job. Her communication skills are severely lacking, but that goes for the whole firm. Your retainer will be drained like an open faucet do the unorganized and inefficient ways of this firm. GO ELSEWHERE
Hired this firm for my divorce. Clearly communicated that I wanted an amicable settlement outside of court, even if this meant foregoing my husband’s business assets. This approach was confirmed and reiterated many times with my appointed lawyer Brian Lewis. Brian left the firm from one day to the next, I was appointed Mark Smith. At this time my husband and I had taken our own initiative to meet with a (non court ordered) mediator, with whom we made significant progress towards a resolution / settlement. In the midst of these negotiations Mark Smith started pushing for a business evaluator to evaluate my husband’s businesses even though I had made it very clear I did not want to pursue that. When I refused, they withdrew from my case. I had spent $18,000.00 to date with Burnham Law and had to start all over again with someone else. Clearly, Burnham Law was actively trying to push my case to court to get more money out of me.
You are wasting money and time. If you are not rich, this law firm doesn't care about your matter. I highly recommend that DO NOT HIRE THIS LAW FIRM.

Hired Law Firm
Awful!! Took all my money and did not help me with my case at all!! After I had paid an insane amount of money to them, they dropped me as a client stating a conflict of interest because they hired a lawyer to their law firm that my ex-husband had used in the past! Then they had the nerve to ask me to pay more money!! I offered to make payments but the shot me down. Needless to say I am still paying them today with INTEREST after being turned into a collection agency!! Buyer beware!!

Martindale-Hubbell® Client Review Ratings™ display reviews submitted by individuals who have either hired or consulted the lawyers or law firms.
The Client Review Rating score is determined through the aggregation of validated responses. People who submit reviews are either individuals who consulted with the lawyer/law firm or who hired the lawyer/law firm and want to share their experience of that lawyer or law firm with other potential clients. Reviewers can be anyone who consults or hires a lawyer including in-house counsel, corporate executives, small business owners, and private individuals.
Martindale-Hubbell validates that a reviewer is a person with a valid email address. As part of the review process, respondents must affirm that they have had an initial consultation, are currently a client or have been a client of the lawyer or law firm identified, although Martindale-Hubbell cannot confirm the lawyer/client relationship as it is often confidential. The content of the responses is entirely from reviewers.
Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome and Martindale-Hubbell accepts no responsibility for the content or accuracy of any review. For more information on Martindale-Hubbell Client Review Ratings, please visit our Client Review Page
Martindale Peer Reviews
Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings™ are the gold standard in attorney ratings, and have been for more than a century. These ratings indicate attorneys who are widely respected by their peers for their ethical standards and legal expertise in a specific area of practice.
The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard due to its objectivity and comprehensiveness. Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.
What are the different Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings?*
• AV Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard. This rating signifies that a large number of the lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.
• Distinguished: An excellent rating for a lawyer with some experience. This rating indicates the attorney is widely respected by their peers for high professional achievement and ethical standards.
• Notable: This rating indicates that the lawyer has been recognized by a large number of their peers for strong ethical standards.
Lawyers who have received peer reviews after 2009 will display more detailed information, including practice areas, summary ratings, detailed numeric ratings and written feedback (if available). Details for individual reviews received before 2009 are not displayed.
Attorneys that receive reviews from their peers, but not a sufficient number to establish a Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating, will have those reviews display on our websites.
Ratings and reviews are feedback from people who have either consulted an attorney about an issue (but may not have hired the attorney) or people who hired an attorney as a current or former client and provided their feedback to our sister site, Avvo.com.
