What will happen if I have 4 underage drinking charges and a failure to appear for the 4th charge?

Mark A. Broughton
Answered by attorney Mark A. Broughton (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Mark A. Broughton, PC
The failure to appear is actually worse than the underlying charge. Assuming there is not warrant out, go back to court and tell the judge why you missed court. With a baby on the way your party days should be behind you! May I suggest that you go to 3-4 AA meetings per week between now and the next time you go to court, and bring proof of it with you to show the judge. This will let him know that you are acting responsibly and taking care of what is obviously a problem in your young life. If you do that - and are serious - the judge may well cut you a break.

Can you press criminal charges on someone while you have pending criminal charges?

Mark Corwin Bruce
Answered by attorney Mark Corwin Bruce (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Law Office M. C. Bruce
Yes. Just because you have been accused of a crime you do not give the rest of the world free reign to commit wrongs against you. However, be prepared to have to overcome the stigma of being an accused criminal who is telling the truth to law enforcement.

What do I do on a bench warrant that has been put on hold to a certain date?

Oscar Ernesto Toscano
Answered by attorney Oscar Ernesto Toscano (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Oscar E. Toscano, Attorney at Law
If he shows up in court, the warrant will be recalled. Someone asked the court to hold the bench warrant until the next court hearing.
