What am I looking at for penalties on a 3rd degree theft with a felony charge 9 years ago?

I suspect that you are going to prison. In regards to someone to take care of the children, they will be placed by the state, while you do your time. It will not be the first time it has happened, and will not be the last.

Can I appeal the ticket in court if I didn’t know what that was for?

The officer gave you a ticket before you left the scene. So, you were put on notice of the offense the officer thinks you committed. The officer does not have to tell you before he prepares the citation what you are being cited for. He probably observed that you think the entire matter is up for discussion. HE WRITES THE TICKET, YOU TAKE THE TICKET, YOU MEET AGAIN IN COURT. Simple. Good luck.

How do I take care of a bench warrant in court?

Yes, hiring an attorney can help so you may not have to appear. Otherwise, the court will just tell you to turn yourself in. What court are you in?
