-J.L.Snook referred to me after trying other means of help with essentially squatters on my rental property that did not agree to the terms of the lease. The part of the lease that was upheld was executed based on my entering the property, (they insisted a month after the lease states) The squatters turned thieves, had my personal belongings, valuables and those of my deceased husband still in the house where they were squatting. Prior to this date, I had visited other attorney offices, two magistrates in the county, and police contacted, re; concern about a gun fired on the property.They had me arrested! These people left with my furniture, rug, family items irreplaceable; not a great number, but century old+ and damaged remaining. I could go on, suffice it to say, the firm had a green horn, not prepared to defend me, assigned to my 'case', the secretary made comment about my "ha" 'script', possible my medication? - abused verbally, blamed cell phone, printer, ANYTHING slaughtered!

.She was in cahoots with Bonnie Lepold (GAL) as they were partners prior to my trial. She did not represent me and my foster child's best interest at all. It was very clear and very obvious in the trial that she and Bonnie Lepold had a pre-planned arrangement. She did not do one thing to earn the money that I paid her. She sucks as an Attorney!!!!

Mr. Snook took on my sons case and gave us hope that he was going to fight for him. Charged us a pretty penny (my entire savings) and he did nothing, took weeks to return my phone calls, sounded irritated every time I asked questions, gave me false information with regards to getting money back from the state for things they took from my sons home. This was during the time that Mr. Snook was running for City Council and I believe he didn't want to upset the DA so he just sat there and watched as my 20 year old son was sentenced to 10 years in prison for protecting his home with a firearm (no one was injured) when a group of robbers attacked him. My son was selling pot at the time and I understand that he should pay for his crimes, but 10 years? Come on! At the end of it all Mr. Snook advised him not to go to trial and take the deal. This was a huge mistake and I would not recommend his services to anyone, especially if a decade of your life hangs on him actually doing something.

Working with this Guardian Ad Litem has been an utter nightmare. Today, She made the most gut wrenching voucher in the Charlottesville Circuit Court, for my children's mother to take my children 7 hours away despite years of expressing concerns, and STACKS of clear evidence she has been alienating me and my family. She heard the fact my dying mother has also been alienated, and will likely DIE before seeing her grandchildren again. This all was thoroughly ignored. Instead she has expressed a clear prejudice against my past as a recovering addict and has focused on pure speculation. She has contributed to pain on my children likely to last the remainder of their lives. They did not take one look at the evidence I have (which is a mountain high by now) a single time. My youngest daughter could have died, a fact their mother HID from me, yet they scoffed at my concerns. Saying I am disappointed in the local legal system here in Charlottesville, and Sheila Haughey, is an understatement.
