Poor service coupled with unconcerned lawyers other than padding their bill by performing superfluous and unconstructive work. Our Lawyer at BLG needlessly escalated the tension and the potential for generating revenue by making futile legal recommendations and following through with them. These served to distance the two parties and create animosity where previously there was none. Had the BLG lawyer been honest the case could have been settled sooner and at a much lower cost to both parties.
It is difficult to find meaningful feedback for a law firm that takes so long to respond to my questions. My usual inclination is to assume that a person(s) is overwhelmed with work, unknowledgeable or disorganized rather than them being willfully neglectful or inconsiderate. Whatever the case, 30 days ago, BLG sent me a list of questions related to disclosure in a Ontario Superior Court case. Some of these questions I have previously answered and provided material for. The very next day I reply to the email asking for clarification and context for the questions they sent me. Four weeks later, with three reminders from me, I still don't have their reply. Is this one star, two star or higher service? To be fair I don't know because this is my first time involved in a lawsuit. For now I don't feel like BLG values my time as a client and, after 4 years, I have little upon which to judge their abilities as legal representatives. I will update when there are results to describe...
I engaged this company simply to collect my settlement. Delays, mis-communications and total lack of interest in my case made me extremely frustrated. Instead of ending a 5 year battle, they did as all other lawyers had in the past and made it 6 1/2 and added another layer of costs! To top it off, all efforts were made to accommodate the respondent and his wishes/demands. Was not a divorce as we were not married, but did not find a better option on your list.
