Coughlin & Gerhart, LLP was founded October 1, 1973 by the merger of two existing Binghamton law firms. Its predecessor firms date back to the 1890s. It represents one of the oldest multi-service law firms in the Southern Tier of New York. The Binghamton Labor and Employment Law Firm of Twining, Nemia & Steflik merged into Coughlin & Gerhart, L.L.P. in January of 1999. The attorneys of Pearis, Kline & Barber of Binghamton became "Of Counsel" to the firm on January 1, 2007. The Ithaca law office of Jonathan O. Albanese joined Coughlin & Gerhart, L.L.P. on May 1, 2009. The firm's general civil practice is conducted throughout the State and Federal Courts at both the trial and appellate levels. Its lawyers are active in the Broome County, New York State and American Bar Associations, and its past and present partners include bar association officers and community leaders. The lawyers of the firm participate in a wide variety of community services, pro bono work, and take part in civic and charitable activities. Bob Jones has become a friend as well as a counselor during his able representation following an auto accident which resulted in surgery and extensive physical therapy. He is an active listener, knowledgeable about the law and the adversarial nature of insurance companies and Medicare, works with an exceptional staff, and exhibits the highest ethical and moral standards, which combined to provide what I regard as a fair and just settlement. I called seeking answers to questions about the appeals process for a Small Claims matter in Tioga County. Brian took the time to answer all of my questions. Even though I decided to handle the appeal on my own, Brian still sent me some literature and a Small Claims Court pamphlet, both of which were helpful and informational. I was impressed with this firm's prompt response to my phone call and how professional and sincere they were. I would definitely contact this Coughlin and Gerhart again.

Bob is tremendously competent, well-versed in insurance lingo, and has many years of experience handling vehicular accidents and related lawsuits. He is warm and kind, thoughtful and considerate. He ensures client comfort and convenience. He took all the pressure and stress of dealing with the insurance companies off our shoulders. He did visits, emails, calls-- anything we needed in order to feel comfortable. He ensured that we received all the benefits and payouts for which we were entitled.

Mr. Jones was polite and professional. He was very kind to me and understanding of my physical difficulties related to the car accident. I never felt that he was rushed or pushed me into anything. He explained in a way that I could easily understand, answered emails almost immediately, made phone calls when he said he would, was a profound help coping with the insurance companies. He even capped the amount of money that he would accept for payment. I am extremely glad that I chose him.
