Will filing medical bankruptcy make it hard to purchase a home or can my husband purchase one in just his name?

You need to understand that a bankruptcy is a bankruptcy. You cannot file bankruptcy just on medical debt and exclude other debt. And even though the medical debt is from care provided to just one person, spouses are 100% responsible for the medical debt of the other. You express many misconceptions about how bankruptcy and credit works and there is not enough space available for me to address every issue you have raised.

Can we still pay our loan if co-signer of private student loan is filing chapter 13?

You should be able to continue making payments despite a co-signer filing bankruptcy. Her Chapter 13 should also make some payments on the student loan which will help in it being paid down more quickly.

Will they come after me for payments if I am the cosigner?

Answered by attorney Marjorie A. Guymon

If you are the cosigner you are also responsible for the car. Is bankruptcy discharge will wipe out his obligation.
