Stuart Collis was knowledgeable upfront and patient. After a year and a half of going to court representing ourselves for a grandparent right to visit plea. We were denied every time. When my wife and I met Stuart Collis, he told us where we stood according to the law what to expect and got us results. He worked hard on our case even in the middle of a Pandemic. He scheduled remote meetings ,court hearings and mediation. Thanks to Stuart Collis , we now get to visit our Grandson. My wife, grandson and I are very happy. Dealing with this office and Stuart has been a nightmare. My ex of 30 yrs regrets hiring him after he dragged our divorce on for months- likely for financial gain. The entire office is completely inept. Paperwork was never delivered on time. Items were inaccurate or just totally missing. A year and a half after our divorce was final, we are still trying to get the office to contact us back to find out why they never filed the QDRO (pension paperwork) We have 3 and they only submitted 2 to the courts. I’ve called and left messages and when I finally am put thru to him, he literally screamed at me and hung up! Absolutely unprofessional, rude and lacking any sense of integrity. Not only is their office staff completely incompetent, but Stuart lacks any sense of decency to know how to treat people with even an ounce of dignity. Very disappointing and honestly disgusting. Please save yourself the time and money and hire an attorney that has basic common decency.
I wish I could give them a 0. My experience with Collis, Griffor & Hendra has been extremely troubling. On 09/24/2025, despite paying $3,467.29 in full with a cashier’s check, they refused to cash my check and instead attempted to garnish me for over $8,000 — far more than what I actually owed. As of today, they are still holding onto my cashier’s check and refusing to process it. This behavior has caused me significant financial stress and hardship. I believe no client should ever be subjected to these kinds of practices. Because of this, I am now seeking legal counsel and will also be contacting the Michigan Attorney General’s Office, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and State Representative Regina Weiss, District 5 to report this matter and pursue accountability. I am sharing my experience so others are fully aware of how this office operates. Document everything, protect yourself, and proceed with extreme caution before working with this firm.
