As a new guest in the US from the UK, it was important for me I have an attorney who could help me with the complexities associated with landlords who take advantage of tenants. We did have some communication issues [as per one of my earlier reviews] but we ironed those out rapidly, and the effort they put on my case was brilliant, for the right result.
I met initially with Scott Gelman regarding my real estate issue. I was satisfied talking with him and signed the contract. After that I never saw nor heard from him again. My case was handed over to one of his less experienced junior associates without my knowledge or consent. The associate acted clumsily and accomplished nothing for the thousands of dollars they were paid. They will nickel and dime you to death even when as happened on several occasions they called repeatedly for the same information they were already given. I was told initially that if I decided to later on go to trial they would do it on consignment which was a critical factor for me. When that time came they said they would charge hourly as before saying they don’t do these cases by consignment directly contradicting his assurances to me initially. Had I known this at our initial meeting I never would have hired them. I found them to be dishonest, inept and money hungry. My honest, personal experience with them.
The 4 members of this attorneys firm, Gelman + Norberg, are individually reviewed. a) did not communicate clearly unless fees where in question b) passed the case internaly to 4 different lawyers, undermined my case c) was more interested in placing a lien on the property than advising on the case d) took on a case without explaining proportionality e) had a low level employee do work without proper supervision, and rode up fees. f) are unapproachable, and lack management skills
