Hired Attorney Peter Russ

Peter joined my Miami law firm just out of law school and was assigned to my litigation and banking division. We had several important cases involving a large financial institution, the firm's most important client. Peter's help in these cases was invaluable and contributed to the firm's success and to my own as managing partner. He moved to Pittsburgh, and we have missed him ever since.

Hired Attorney Stuart Slotnick

When I signed on as a client, I was asked to pay a $5K retainer for a simple review and negotiation of a separation agreement. I was unsure of whether the effort would be worth much, but was told by Stuart Slotnick that if I were his "sister," he would advise me to move forward. So I trusted him and followed his advice. When he was not able to deliver on the outcome he promised, he accused me of not having a strong case in the first place. I felt gaslit by this encounter as I had communicated to him multiple times about my hesitancy to move forward. Then I was presented with a $12K bill (on top of the retainer) for what amounted to a review of the agreement and a handful of calls. At no point during the process was I informed that work had exceeded the retainer. Overall, Mr. Slotnick lacks integrity, communicates poorly, inflates his time and then gaslights his clients when he receives negative feedback about his poor service.

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard due to its objectivity and comprehensiveness. Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.

What are the different Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings?*

• AV Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard. This rating signifies that a large number of the lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.

• Distinguished: An excellent rating for a lawyer with some experience. This rating indicates the attorney is widely respected by their peers for high professional achievement and ethical standards.

• Notable: This rating indicates that the lawyer has been recognized by a large number of their peers for strong ethical standards.

Lawyers who have received peer reviews after 2009 will display more detailed information, including practice areas, summary ratings, detailed numeric ratings and written feedback (if available). Details for individual reviews received before 2009 are not displayed.
