Elder Law

I graduated from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1983 and began practicing law in Wichita at that time. I spent a brief time working as an Assistant States Attorney (a criminal prosecutor) in Rapid City, South Dakota (I grew up in Pierre, South Dakota). I also worked for Legal Services of Wichita with the Elderly Law Project and for Lambdin, Kluge and Zacharias, a law firm here in Wichita. In 1992 I took over another attorney's practice when he became a District Court judge and began practicing on my own. I handle a variety of cases, but the majority of my work is in Family Law (divorce, custody, parenting time, prenuptial agreements, post-divorce matters, child support, etc), Probate Law (estates, step-parent adoptions, guardianships, conservatorships and the preparation of wills) and the Child In Need of Care portion of Juvenile Law.

I was an Administrative Hearing Officer for the State of Kansas for driver's license hearing a number of years ago and for a three year period I was a pro tem judge, filling in for the District Court Judges in the Family Law Department when they were at Judge's Meetings.

Hired Attorney John W. Lehecka

I hired him to fight for my right to be a mother to my girls — the most important role I will ever have in my life. But he didn’t fight. He didn’t prepare me. He didn’t even care. Call after call went unanswered, questions were ignored, and when it came time to stand before the court, he left me unprepared and alone. Because of his negligence, I lost everything — custody, visitation, and irreplaceable time with my daughters. This man sold himself as an attorney who would defend me, but in reality, he only defended his own wallet. To him, I wasn’t a mother desperate to keep her children — I was just another client to drain for money. He was careless, heartless, and completely unprofessional. His failure wasn’t just a mistake; it was devastating negligence that destroyed my family. I have faced war zones and burning buildings, but nothing compares to the heartbreak of losing my daughters — and it happened because this man didn’t do his job. He had the power to fight for me and chose n
