About Mr. John Matthew Leavitt

John Matthew Leavitt is a native of Wichita, Kansas. He graduated from Andover High School in 2001 and attended the University of Kansas, earning undergraduate degrees in journalism and political science. Mr. Leavitt earned his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2009 and was admitted to practice in Kansas in April 2010. Mr. Leavitt is an active member of the Wichita Bar Association, serving as President of its Young Lawyers Section in 2013-2014. He is also a staff writer for the bar association’s monthly barometer publication. Mr. Leavitt is also a member of the Kansas Bar Association, Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and National College for DUI Defense. Mr. Leavitt completed the National College for DUI Defense’s summer session curriculum, which meets at Harvard law school, in 2011. Mr. Leavitt has lectured at continuing legal education seminars for both the Wichita Bar Association and the Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is also a member of the Wichita Crime Commission. In his free time Mr. Leavitt enjoys reading, movies, music and all things related to the University of Kansas’ athletics programs.
