About Katherin M. Crossling

Katherin Crossling, a Partner at HPMB, focuses her practice on medical malpractice, premises liability, asbestos litigation defense and risk management. She has experience managing the litigation of complex high exposure matters including the defense of physicians, practice groups, and institutions in multi-million dollar cases. She has successfully moved for summary judgment in a variety of cases ranging from sepsis resulting in quadrilateral amputation to allegations concerning management of geriatric patients to allegedly negligent Ob/Gyn care and more. In 2023 she was named as a NY metro area SuperLawyer having previously been named a Rising Star from 2015-2018. In 2022 she received the Kay Crawford Murray award from the New York State Bar Association which recognized her commitment to diversity in the legal profession and dedication to advancing the professional development of women attorneys. Ms. Crossling serves as Co-Director of the HPMB Mentor Program and the HPMB Academy, a multi-dimensional learning and training system designed to support all attorneys and promote on-going professional learning and development.

As part of an HPM&B trial team, Ms. Crossling has taken a defense verdict on a birth injury case in Bronx County Supreme Court. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Crossling gained significant trial experience prosecuting long term investigations involving felony weapons and human trafficking as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County, New York. In this role she also secured hundreds of grand jury indictments based on complex presentations involving felony arrests.

Ms. Crossling has a technical background in the sciences with a focus on medicine. She earned her undergraduate degree from Duke University where her studies included a cancer immunotherapy research exchange with the Weitzmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel and an internship at the Duke University Medical Center. Ms. Crossling has published as a lead author in the Journal of Soil Biology and Biochemistry and as part of a research team in Nature Journal.

A public servant at heart, Ms. Crossling currently devotes a significant portion of her spare time to her local school district where she founded a not for profit after school STEM enrichment program for elementary students. She has served as a trustee to the Ossining Board of Education since 2018 and currently is in her second term as President where she presides over innumerable public meetings and manages extensive community engagement for a diverse set of ambitious initiatives.
