About Emily K. Kenison

Emily Kenison is an Associate at Martin Clearwater & Bell LLP, where she defends the Firm’s client doctors, hospitals, health care systems, and other medical professionals in a variety of medical malpractice matters.

Prior to joining MCB, Emily founded a company that promotes women’s entrepreneurship and innovation, where she also served as Chief Legal Officer. In this role, she directed all corporate legal functions, including intellectual property, commercial contracts, litigation, and regulatory matters. She negotiated critical agreements with manufacturers, logistics providers, fulfillment partners, and influencers. Emily also managed investor communications and all materials related to corporate financing. Furthermore, she spearheaded enforcement strategies across major e-commerce platforms to combat counterfeit products, price manipulation, and unfair competitive practices.

Earlier in her career, Emily served as Funding Director and Corporate Counsel for a boutique legal finance company in San Francisco. There, she negotiated and structured litigation finance transactions, and led legal diligence, case underwriting, and transaction execution for multi-million-dollar investments. Other responsibilities included drafting all funding agreements and covenants, and advising the corporate investment committee on legal exposure and litigation risk across various jurisdictions. Emily also played a key role in the firm’s expansion into new practice areas.

Emily began her legal career as a Corporate Associate in the New York office of a large international law firm. There, she advised a range of clients, from private equity firms to startups, on mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures. Her work included negotiating and drafting complex transactional documents, including purchase and shareholder agreements.

Emily received her B.A., with Dean’s List honors, from Columbia University in 2011, and earned her J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2014. She later earned an M.B.A. from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2020, attending on a full scholarship. Emily is admitted to practice in New York.
