This attorney is one of the worst professionals I have encountered. She is unprofessional, combative, financially motivated, and lacks the communication and advocacy skills expected in family law and custody matters. She failed to communicate, misrepresented positions before the court, and privately told clients one thing while taking contradictory positions during proceedings. Her conduct showed little regard for the financial strain placed on families and appeared focused on prolonging involvement and increasing fees rather than resolving issues fairly. As a Guardian ad Litem (GAL), she escalated conflict instead of reducing it, creating additional disputes that increased her participation and billing. That behavior is extremely harmful in family cases involving children. Her poor reputation across attorney review platforms is well deserved. In my experience, her reports and recommendations were misleading, unreliable, and damaging. Families should proceed with extreme caution.
I am writing this review based on my personal experience with Katherine L. Zopf serving as Guardian ad Litem in my case. I did not feel that my best interests as the child were prioritized, but that my moms were instead. She told me that I couldn’t be punished for making an “adult decision” to stay with my dad, so he could be punished instead of me and potentially be put in jail. This statement scared me and made me feel guilty. She also told me that messages I sent to my mom were “hearsay” and not evidence, which confused me. She acted like she had been involved in my case, when in reality she was hard to get ahold of, and had seen me less than five times. Based on my experience, I would not recommend her.
