Sebastian Ovalle practices in the Firm's Complex Litigation and Toxic Torts & Products Liability groups. He is a member of one of the Firm’s trial teams defending against serial litigation involving cancer allegations related to claimed exposure to ethylene oxide.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Ovalle served as a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Among his responsibilities, he defended the SBA in Shuttered Venue Organization Grant denials, and served as a liaison with both the U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI in criminal matters relating to SBA. He also prepared and took depositions in SBA-related suits.
Following law school, Mr. Ovalle served as Assistant District Attorney at the Bronx District Attorney's Office, where he was the first ADA in a class of sixty-two to present an attempted homicide to a Grand Jury, receiving a true bill authorizing a felony indictment. He received indictments from a Grand Jury after presenting DNA-based cases, and he successfully prosecuted multiple robbery, firearm, and assault cases before a Grand Jury, maintaining a 100% indictment rate.
Mr. Ovalle received his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law, where he was Regional President of the Hispanic National Bar Association, and President of the American Constitution Society. During law school, he worked as a Legal Intern at the New York City Justice Center, Bankruptcy and Homeless Clinic. He graduated, cum laude, from The City University of New York, John Jay College of Criminal Justice with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a minor in Philosophy.
Mr. Ovalle is fluent in Spanish and conversational in German.
