Layon Law Firm is a law firm with an office in Vista, CA. At this office location, there is 1 lawyer practicing criminal defense, misdemeanors, felonies and 8 other areas of law.
This lawyer was recommended to us by a friend who is a retired district attorney. Being on the other side, she said he was a good opponent. He is easy to work with and helped us to feel at ease during a very emotional and traumatic time. He was accommodating with appointments and very courteous. He seemed to know the law very well and did his best in a very difficult situation. He was compassionate but also forthright when discussing our case. He is a good trial attorney and I felt like he was comfortable and eloquent in the courtroom setting. He knows the personalities of the judges and also seems to know some of the prosecutors which I think is an advantage.
I have worked with many attorneys in my profession and Richard is one of the best I have run across. He is knowledgeable, professional, compassionate, reliable and trustworthy, all of the traits you want in your attorney.
I wish I could give a good review, but I can't. This attorney is bad news. On day 2 of my trial (after promising my wife and I that the 25,000 we were charged was it) He tells us that we owe him another 15,000 by close of business because the trial "might" be more then 2 weeks. When I said I didn't have it, he cancelled 9 of my 12 witnesses and told me he was now going another direction with my trial. We lost! Thanks Rick for being such an honorable Attorney on a case that you could've won.
He didn't even do what I hired him for, then he argues and insults me after court when I told him he did the wrong part of the case. He also uses scare tactics to make you do what he wants you to do, even if it's not in your best interest. He will also lie and overcharge you. You'd be much better off hiring a different attorney for your case. Just make sure you away from Richard Layon.
